NEWARK, Del. -- Junior midfielder
Jayden Paladino (Hawthorne, N.J.) scored five goals and junior attacker
Jason Staudte (Sound Beach, N.Y.) had a goal and five assists as Caldwell men's lacrosse fell, 25-15, at Wilmington (3-4, 2-0 CACC) in CACC play.
Freshman attacker
Gavin Starr (Montgomery, N.Y.) matched his season high with four goals, adding an assist, and senior attacker
Owen Healey (Washington, N.J.) put in three goals and one assist for the Cougars.
Senior attacker
Michael Brown (Glenolden, Pa.) got Caldwell on the board with just under three minutes to play in the first, but the Wildcats scored the next two goals for a 6-1 lead before Starr's tally on the first of Staudte's assists pulled the Cougars to within four. After another WilmU tally, Healy's first goal of the game made it 7-3 with 11:42 left in the half, but that's as close as the Cougars would get as the hosts scored the next four, eventually taking a 14-7 lead into the intermission.Â
Caldwelll did make things interesting midway through the third, scoring five straight goals, three by Starr, then two more of the next three for a 19-14 deficit with 13:45 left in regulation, but could manage just one more tally the rest of the way.
Senior goaltender
Tim Livingston (Holtsville, N.Y.) made 17 saves for the Cougars (1-7, 0-3).
