BRIDGEPORT, Conn.- Caldwell University women's basketball senior
Casey O'Shaughnessy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) dropped in 19 points as the Cougars came up short to the University of Bridgeport 78-59 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 10-13 on the season and 6-8 in the CACC, while the Purple Knights improve to 9-15 and 5-10 in conference play.
Senior
Halle Brown (Downingtown, Pa.) drained an early three-pointer, while O'Shaughnessy scored eight points in the quarter including a bucket at the 2:19 mark to give the Cougars a 15-11 lead. The Purple Knights answered to push ahead 26-17 early in the second quarter.
O'Shaughnessy drained a triple to cut the score to 26-20 midway through the quarter. Bridgeport extended their lead late to hold a 41-24 lead at halftime.
Caldwell pulled to within 11 points early in the third quarter but Bridgeport maintained their lead into the final quarter.
O'Shaughnessy led the way with 19 points and four rebounds, while Brown totaled 11 points, three boards and two steals. Senior
Rebecca Morrison (Ayrshire, Scotland) added seven points, six rebounds and two blocks, while senior
Jessica Wagoner (Clifton Park, N.Y.) grabbed nine rebounds.
The Cougars host nationally ranked Thomas Jefferson University for a CACC game on Saturday, February 11 at 1 pm.
