CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball freshman
Landon Shivers (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) netted 16 points as the Cougars fell to Bloomfield College 89-59 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest on senior day.
The Cougars end the regular season at 18-9 overall and 14-4 in the CACC, while the Bears improve to 17-10 and 13-5 in conference play.
The teams traded leads over the first four minutes with the Bears pulling ahead 16-10 at the 14:11 mark of the opening half. Sophomore
Mark Heber (Paterson, N.J.) drained a pair of free throws, while freshman
Darnell Evans (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored in the paint to close the gap to 16-14 with 12:13 remaining in the half. Bloomfield closed the half with a run to pull ahead 47-20 at halftime. The Bears maintained their lead into the second half.
Shivers led the way with 16 points and three rebounds, while Evans totaled 15 points, three boards, three assists and two blocks. Freshman
Kirk Parsons (Newark, N.J.) added 13 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Prior to the game, the Cougars recognized its lone senior in
Tyler Washington (Hampton, Ga.), who played for the past two seasons in a Caldwell uniform.
The Cougars, as the CACC North Division Champions, will host the South #4 seed Wilmington University in the 2023 CACC Men's Basketball Championship Quarterfinals on Tuesday, February 28 at 6 pm.
