JERSEY CITY, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball senior Rebecca Morrison (Ayrshire, Scotland) netted 15 points as the Cougars were edged by Alliance University 60-55 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
 
The Cougars fall to 10-16 on the season and 6-11 in the CACC, while Alliance improves to 5-18 and 4-12 in conference play.
 
Senior Halle Brown (Downingtown, Pa.) drained an early triple to help the Cougars build a 11-6 lead late in the opening quarter. Alliance rallied to pull even at 13 early in the second quarter. Caldwell retook the lead at 15-13 but Alliance answered as the pulled ahead 28-19 at halftime.
 
Alliance extended their lead to 33-23 early in the third quarter but the Cougars rallied with seven straight points. Brown drained a three-pointer as Caldwell closed the gap to 33-30 at the 7:04 mark. Alliance answered to push ahead by 12 points at 42-30 late in the third quarter.
 
Caldwell got as close at two points at 51-49 following a three-pointer by freshman Lucy Coogan (Kilkenny, Ireland) with 2:29 left in the game. Alliance matched the Cougars down the stretch to hold on for the win.
 
Morrison led the way with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists. Brown added 10 points, five boards and three steals, while graduate Saundra Cleckley (Far Rockaway N.Y.) finished with seven rebounds and six assists
 
The Cougars close out the regular season as they host Bloomfield College for a CACC contest on Saturday, February 25 at 1 pm. Saturday's game will also be senior day for the Cougars.
