BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- Sophomore Darnell Evans (Amityville, N.Y.) had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds to go with a game-high six assists and junior Derrick Bueno (Palisades Park, N.J.) went for 16 on six of 11 shooting and added seven rebounds as Caldwell men's basketball is off to a 3-0 start for the first time in its Division II history, pulling away in the second half of an 85-63 win over Bloomsburg at Nelson Field House.

The Cougars led, 35-29, at halftime, and couldn't quite shake the Huskies (1-2) until midway through the second half when, leading 52-46, a three pointer by junior Mark Heber (Paterson, N.J.) ignited a 9-2 run that gave the Cougars a double-digit advantage they wouldn't relinquish. Later two straight layups by freshman Jaiden Williams (New York), a free throw by soph Kirk Parsons (Newark, N.J.) and layup by Evans extended the Cougars' lead to 18 with 7:14 left, and eventually to 27.

Three other Cougars reached double digits, as Parsons netted 13, soph Melvin Evans (Bronx, N.Y.) had 12 and Williams posted 10 on five of six field goals, adding five rebounds in 15 strong minutes of play.

The game marked the first of seven straight road contests for the Cougars over the next few weeks, continuing at St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday in Sparkill, N.Y.
