MANSFIELD, Pa. -- Junior DB
Amajuwan Murray (Rahway, N.J.) recorded six tackles and had an interception as the Caldwell sprint football defense was the highlight in a 13-6 overtime loss at Mansfield at Karl Van Norman Field.
After a scoreless first three quarters, the Cougars (2-2, 1-2 CSFL North) got on the board first with 12:00 left in regulation on a three-yard run by freshman RB
Eriq Harris (Montclair, N.J.).
But the Mountaineers (1-2, 1-1) answered with a 10-play, 68 yard drive that ended in a score to tie the game at six with 8:19 left.
Neither team could score in the remaining time in regulation. After Mansfield scored a touchdown on its overtime possession, a Cougars fourth down completion was stopped short of first down yardage to give the hosts the victory.
Sophomore RB
Devon Turner (Bergenfield N.J.) ran for 45 yards on 19 carries, and Harris gained 29 on eight runs.
Junior DB
Michael Bonsu (Atlanta) also had eight tackles for the Cougars, including three for loss, in a standout defensive performance. Freshman
Jalen Hinnant (Edison, N.J.), making his first start, and senior DL
Messiah Porter (Rutherford, N.J.) each made six stops. Junior
Ethan Edwards (Edison, N.J.) had four tackles and two pass breakups.
