CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University baseball freshman
Santo Anzalone (Middle Village, N.Y.) homered in the opener, while freshman
Joseph Witt (North Arlington, N.J.) drove in four in the nightcap as the Cougars fell short in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader to Post University om senior day. The Eagles won the opener 7-4 and took the nightcap 10-5.

The Cougars fall to 14-25 overall and end conference at 9-16, while the Eagles improve to 22-25 and finish 17-8 in conference play.

Caldwell took the early lead as Anzalone singled in a run in the first inning. Anzalone connected on a solo homerun in the fourth for a 2-0 lead. Post rallied with three runs in the fifth and added three runs in the sixth for a 6-2 lead.

Sophomore
Zach Saunders (Adelphi, Md.) singled in a run in the sixth but the Eagles added a run in the eighth. Freshman
Ryan Opak (Douglaston, N.Y.) singled in a run in the ninth but the rally fell short.

Anzalone went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI in game one, while senior
Frank Lehmann (Colonia, N.J.) went 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

In the nightcap, Post jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings of play. Caldwell rallied in the fifth as the loaded the bases with one out. Witt followed with a single to drive in two runs. The Eagles added five in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Caldwell tacked on three runs in the seventh as they loaded the bases with Witt singling in two runs. Senior
Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.) followed with a run scoring doubled before the rally came up short.

Between the two games, Caldwell Baseball honored its seniors in Lehmann,
Jalen March (Baltimore, Md.) and Richards.

The Cougars wrap up their season as they travel to Kutztown University for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, May 4 at 1 pm. Â
