CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University softball team collected 28 hits as they swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College. The Cougars took the opener 17-0 and won the nightcap 9-1, both in five innings.

The Cougars improve to 28-7 overall and 16-2 in the CACC, while Lightning fall to 18-19 and 6-12 in conference play.

In the opener, senior
Mariah Culver (Owego, N.Y.) tossed a one-hit shutout over four innings, striking out three to improve to 11-2. Freshman
Allison Winters (Blairstown, N.J.) retired all three batters she faced in the fifth.

The Cougars recorded 17 hits in the opener as junior
Taylor Mischler (Endicott, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI. Junior
Courtney Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) connected on a three-run homerun in the third as she finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI.

Paige Sandoval (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI, while freshman
Jessica Klein (Trevose, Pa.) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Winters went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.

In the nightcap, Klein went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while freshman
Ashleigh Tavaska (Jackson, N.J.) went 2-for-2 with three RBI. Senior
Maya Rodriguez (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) went 2-for3 with two RBI, while Mischler scored two runs.
