Ben Taylor (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) each scored twice as the Cougars fell to The College of Saint Rose 18-7 in a non-conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 1-2 on the season, while the Golden Knights improve to 5-1
Caldwell scored three goals in the first half as freshman
David Hill (Bayville, N.Y.) netted his first collegiate goal in the opening quarter. Taylor added a pair of goals in the first half as the Cougars trailed 13-3 at halftime.
Junior
Michael Brown (Glenolden, Pa.) tallied a goal in the third quarter, while Staudte added a pair of goals in the fourth quarter. Junior
Kevin Albright (Mays Landing, N.J.) netted the final goal of the game at the 1:53 mark of the fourth quarter.
Staudte led the way with two goals and one assist, while Brown finished with one goal and two assists. Taylor totaled two goals and three ground balls, while junior
Matthew Bronico (Phillipsburg, N.J.) won 12 face-offs and scooped up a team-best seven ground balls.
Junior
Tim Livingston (Holtsville, N.Y.) posted six saves in 40+ minutes in net. Sophomore
Shane Murphy (Middletown, N.J.) added three saves in 15 minutes, while junior
Nicholas Mele (Albertson, N.Y.) recorded one save in four minutes.
The Cougars return home to face Roberts Wesleyan College in a non-conference game on Sunday, March 13 at noon at Essex Valley Field in West Caldwell.
