CORAM, N.Y.- The Caldwell University women's bowling team posted a 4-1 record, taking fifth place, in the baker format qualifying round to start day one of the East Coast Conference Championship. The fifth seeded Cougars fell in their opening match to #12 seed Chestnut Hill College in their opening match of the double-elimination bracket play.
In the qualifying round, Caldwell opened the day with a 1,000-897 win over Felician University. The Cougars defeated Mercyhurst University 940-918 and downed St. Thomas Aquinas College 896-811. Caldwell fell to Wilmington University 933-921 and defeated Chestnut Hill 930-731 to close out the qualifying round.
Caldwell took fifth place following the qualifying round with a 4,687 total pinfall. The Cougars faced 12th seed Chestnut Hill in a best-of-7 baker format. The Griffins won the first two games 233-177 and 231-145 to take a 2-0 lead. Caldwell battled back, taking the next three games 211-168, 235-188 and 190-149 to push ahead 3-2. Chestnut Hill evened the match with a 225-171 win in game six and won the match 4-3 with a 184-160 win in game seven.
The Cougars move to the elimination bracket where they will face the loser of #6 Kutztown University and #3 Mercyhurst on Saturday. All the live scoring and updates can be found on the ECC Championship Central page at
