PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Caldwell University women's basketball junior
Casey O'Shaughnessy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Cougars with 22 points as the Cougars came up short 82-66 to Chestnut Hill College in the Quarterfinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship.
The Cougars season ends at 13-15, while the Griffins improve to 24-5 and advance to Saturday's semifinals.
Chestnut Hill jumped out to a 28-13 lead late in the opening quarter. The Cougars answered with 14-4 run to close the gap five points. Junior
Rebecca Morrison (Ayrshire, Scotland) scored six points in the run, while O'Shaughnessy added four points. Junior
Halle Brown (Downingtown, Pa.) capped the run with a bucket at the 4:42 mark of the second quarter to cut the score to 32-27.
The Griffins pushed ahead by double-digits but Caldwell rallied late to trailed 42-34 at halftime.
The Cougars rallied with a 10-3 run to start the second half to pull within one point at 45-44 with 7:30 left in the third quarter. Chestnut Hill responded with a run to extend their lead 60-50 at the end of the third quarter and maintained their lead into the final quarter.
O'Shaughnessy led the way with 22 points and three rebounds, while senior
Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) tallied 17 points, six boards, three assists and two blocks. Morrison totaled 11 points, four rebounds and two blocks, while Brown recorded six steals. Graduate
Shanice Graves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with nine points.
