CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball senior
Anthony Cooper (Ashburn, Va.) and graduate
Gerald Blount (Jersey City, N.J.) each scored 16 points as the Cougars fell to Nyack College 78-63 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up.
The Cougars fall to 7-13 overall and 3-9 in the CACC, while the Warriors improve to 9-9 and 7-5 in conference play.
The Warriors built a 21-17 lead midway through the first half. The Cougars scored eight straight points as Blount converted a three-point play, while Cooper connected on a bucket to put Caldwell ahead 25-21 at the 6:37 mark. Nyack made a late run to take a 39-32 lead at halftime.
Nyack got out to a fast start in the second half as they built a lead and held their advantage down the stretch.
Blount led the way with 16 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Cooper finished with 16 points, while freshman
Mark Heber (Paterson, N.J.) added 13 points.
The Cougars host Chestnut Hill College for a CACC contest on Saturday, February 12 at 3 pm. Saturday's game will feature the return of Caldwell Athletics "Super Saturday" Alumni event as well as
Mark A. Corino Day, honoring Coach Corino for his record setting victories this season.
