BLOOMFIELD, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball senior
Anthony Cooper (Ashburn, Va.) scored a career-high 32 points as the Cougars fell to Bloomfield College 98-89 in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference season finale.
The Cougars end their season at 8-17 overall and 4-13 in the CACC, while the Bears close out their season at 10-17 and 8-9 in conference play.
Bloomfield jumped out to a 19-6 lead over the first five minutes of the game. Junior
Tyler Washington (Englewood, N.J.) paced Caldwell with 12 points in the first half as the Cougars trailed by double-digits at halftime.
Cooper led Caldwell back in the second half with 26 points over the final 20 minutes. The Cougars closed the gap to 86-79 with 5:07 left in the game. The Bears pushed their lead to 96-85 at the 1:31 mark and held off the Cougars down the stretch.
Cooper led the way with a career-high 32 points as he shot 11-for-19 from the field and 8-for-11 from the free throw line. Washington totaled 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while freshman
Mark Heber (Paterson, N.J.) posted 12 points, six boards and three assists. Freshman
Julius Agustsson (Akureyi, Iceland) chipped in 11 points, while sophomore
Jarnel Rancy (Middle Island, N.Y.) recorded a team-high 14 rebounds along with three blocks.
