PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- Caldwell University men's basketball sophomore
Mark Heber (Paterson, N.J.) drained four three-pointers and finished with a double-double as the Cougars rolled past Holy Family University 74-53 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in the CACC, while the Tigers fall to 6-8 and 0-4 in conference play.
Heber drained a pair of early triples as the Cougars raced out to a 15-6 lead over the first seven minutes of the game. The Tigers closed the gap to 20-18 at the 9:15 mark but Caldwell closed the half with a late run to pull ahead by double digits.
Heber netted seven points as part of an 18-7 run over the final nine minutes to help the Cougars take a 38-25 lead at halftime.

Darnell Evans (Deer Park, N.Y.) capped the burst with a three-pointer to push their lead to 45-25. Holy Family got as close as 40-38 at the 13:48 mark but the Cougars answered with an 18-3 run and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Heber shot 4-for-6 from downtown, posting a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds along with one steal. Sophomore
Derrick Bueno (Palisades Park, N.J.) chipped in 12 points and nine boards, while Evans finished with seven points, three assists and two steals. Sophomore
Jarnel Rancy (Middle Island, N.Y.) recorded five blocks and four assists in the win.
The Cougars return home to start 2023 as they host the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, January 4 at 7:30 pm
