WEST POINT, N.Y.- The Caldwell University sprint football team saw their season come to an end as the Cougars came up short to Army West Point 24-13 in a Collegiate Sprint Football League North Division contest.

The Cougars end their season at 5-2 overall on the season and 3-1 in the North Division, while the Black Knights improve to 6-1 and 4-0 in division play. The Cougars tie the program record wih five wins, a feat that was previously achieved in 2021.Â

With the North Division title on the line in the regular season finale, Army jumped out to a 21-0 first half advantage.

Caldwell got on the board with their first possession of the second half. Following a defensive turnover, the Cougar offense started with the ball deep in Army territory. Senior quarterback
Frank DeMaio (Nutley, N.J.) capped the drive with a run into the end zone to cut the score to 21-7 at the 8:53 mark of the third quarter.

The Black Knights added a field goal late in the quarter to extend their led to 24-7 heading into the final 15 minutes of the contest.

DeMaio led the Cougars on a scoring drive early in the fourth quarter. He connected with senior receiver
Jeremy Colon (Union City, N.J) on a 46-yard pass connection to cut the score to 24-13. The Cougars has two more offensive drives but failed to score as Army captures the North Division and advance to the CSFL championship game next week.

Freshman
Devon Turner (Bergenfield, N.J.) led the ground attack with 18 carries for 60 yards. DeMaio passed for 92 yards and one touchdown, while Colon finished with two receptions for 42 yards and one scored. Freshman
Donovan Swasey (Clifton, N.J.) added four catches for 33 yards in the game.

Sophomore
Amajuwan Murray (Rahway, N.J.) led the Cougar defense with 12 tackles, two for losses and one interception. Graduate
Anthony Guarino (Tinton Falls, N.J.) finished with nine tackles, including one sack, while senior
Jahmall Readus (Paterson, N.J.) totaled six tackles.
