CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball junior
Tyler Washington (Englewood, N.J.) scored 16 points as the Cougars fell to Bloomfield College 97-84 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the CACC, while the Bears improve to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
Bloomfield jumped out to a 14-9 lead over the first five minutes of the game. Caldwell answered with a 17-4 run as Washington and senior
Anthony Cooper (Ashburn, Va.) each scored four points in the run. Sophomore
Ty-Shon Pannell (Central Islip, N.Y.) capped the run with a three-pointer to give the Cougars a 26-18 lead midway through the half. The Bears battled back as they pulled ahead 45-37 at halftime.
The Bears extended their lead to 60-47 at the 15:44 mark of the second half. Caldwell rallied back as they cut the score to 72-68 following a bucket by graduate
Gerald Blount (Jersey City, N.J.) with 9:11 left in the game. Bloomfield answered with eight straight points and maintained their lead down the stretch.
Washington led the way with 16 points and four rebounds, while Cooper totaled 15 points, three boards and two assists. Freshman
Derrick Bueno (Palisades Park, N.J.) added 14 points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Blount finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Cougars travel to Thomas Jefferson University on Sunday, January 23 a CACC contest at 3 pm.
