CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's soccer team netted six goals en-route to a 6-0 victory over Chestnut Hill College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 3-4-0, and 1-1-0 in the CACC while Griffins drop to 2-2-1 and 1-1-0 in conference play.
Caldwell set the tone early in the game as junior
Sarah Costanza (Morris Plains, N.J.) scored the first goal of the game off an assist from senior
Hannah Marino (Pennington, N.J.) in the second minute of play.
The Cougars added two goals in the first half as junior
Angelina Kourgelis (Oakland, N.J.) netted a goal of an assist from graduate
Teaghan Darling (Forked River, N.J.) in the 26th minute. Freshman
Isabella Vitella (Roseland, N.J.) added a goal late in the half with under five minutes to play for a 3-0 halftime lead.
Caldwell added to their lead in the second half as junior
Nicole Alfano (Union, N.J.) netted a goal off an assist from sophomore
Kelly Weaver (Forked River, N.J.) in the 61st minute. Marino scored the fifth goal of the game of a Kourgelis assist two minutes later.
Costanza capped the scoring with her second tally of the game in the 64th minute.
Senior keeper
Jamie-Lee Bamford (Braintree, United Kingdom) finished with four saves in the game, including stopping a penalty kick, to record her first shutout of the season.
The Cougars host Bloomfield College on Wednesday, September 29 for a CACC contest at 1 pm.
