CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University men's soccer team returned to their natural grass home field for the first time since 2019 and fell 7-2 to American International College in their 2021 home opener.
The Cougars fall to 2-2-0, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 3-0-1 overall.
American International jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the tenth minute of the contest. The Yellow Jackets added four goals in the half to lead 5-0 at halftime.
The Cougars broke through early in the second half as graduate
Kevin Avila (Newark, N.J.) got Caldwell on the board in the 58th minute.
The Yellow Jackets added two goals but Caldwell closed out the scoring late in the game. Sophomore
Matthew Escobar (Kearny, N.J.) tallied a goal off an assist from Avila.

The Cougars host Chestnut Hill College in their conference opener on Sunday, September 26 at 1 pm.
