CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University softball team split a twin bill with Dominican College in a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contests. The Cougars took the opener 8-0 in six innings, while the Chargers earned the split with a 5-1 game two win.

The Cougars move to 18-9-1 overall and 15-9 in the CACC, while the Chargers stand at 18-12 and 17-5 in conference play.

Caldwell got on the board with a run in the opening inning and added one run in the second. Junior
Emma Cooney (Livingston, N.J.) led off the second with a walk and came around to score later in the inning on a single by junior
Lauren Stansell (Plantation, Fla.).

The Cougars pushed across three runs in the third as sophomore
Courtney Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) led off with a triple. Junior
Chloe VanGorder (Harveys Lake, Pa.) drove in Grundhauser with a sacrifice fly as she reached base on an error. Senior
Anyssia Ramirez (Brentwood, Calif.) doubled in a run, while freshman
Chloe Pocceschi (Annandale, N.J.) singled in a run later in the inning for a 5-0 lead.

Caldwell wrapped up the game in the sixth as sophomore
Taylor Mischler (Endicott, N.Y.) drew a one out walk. Grundhauser reached base on a fielder's choice as Mischler reached second safely on an error. VanGorder followed with a game-ending three-run homerun.

Mariah Culver (Owego, N.Y.) tossed a complete game, allowing seven hits in six scoreless innings with five strikeouts to improve to 11-4.

Dominican jumped out to an early lead in the nightcap as they scored four runs over the first three innings. Caldwell scored their lone run in the fifth as senior
Paige Sandoval (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) hit a solo homerun. The Chargers added one run in the sixth for the final margin.
