CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University softball sophomore
Courtney Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) and junior
Chloe VanGorder (Harveys Lake, Pa.) lifted the Cougars to a pair of walk-off wins with clutch game-winning hits in a sweep over regionally ranked Molloy College.

The Cougars took the opener 6-5 on Grundhauser's seventh inning walk-off single, while VanGorder's eighth inning game two single lifted the Cougars to a 7-6 nightcap victory.

The Cougars improve to 13-8-1 overall, while the Lions drop to 16-12.

In the opener, Caldwell got on the board in the first inning as senior
Anyssia Ramirez (Brentwood, Calif.) doubled with two outs. VanGorder followed with a double to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. The Cougars added to their lead in the third as sophomore
Taylor Mischler (Endicott, N.Y.) reached on a fielder's choice and Ramirez singled. VanGorder again came up with the clutch hit, this time blasting a three-run homerun for a 4-0 lead.

The teams traded runs in the fourth as freshman
Paige Silvia (Taunton, Mass.) connected on a solo homerun to push their lead to 5-1 after four.

Molloy rallied back as they scored four runs in the top of the seventh to pull even at 5-5. The Cougars answered in their half of the seventh as Mischler got the rally started as she reached base on a hit by pitch to start the inning. She advanced to second on a passed ball and moved to third on a Ramirez infield single. Grundhauser lifted the Cougars to victory with a game-winning walk off single.

Junior
Mariah Culver (Owego, N.Y.) tossed a complete game to earn the win and improve to 8-4. She allowed five runs (four earned) on 10 hits, while striking out eight with no walks.

Caldwell took the early lead in the nightcap as junior
Lauren Stansell (Plantation, Fla.) led off the first inning with an infield single. Ramirez drew a walk, while VanGorder blasted her second homerun of the day to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead.

The score held until the sixth inning as Molloy took the lead with five runs in the sixth and one in the seventh for a 6-3 lead. Caldwell battled back in their half of the inning as Ramirez and VanGorder singled with one out, while Grundhauser drew a walk to load the bases. Junior
Emma Cooney (Livingston, N.J.) singled to drive in Ramirez to close the gap to 6-4. Following an out, Silvia singled home a pair of runs to tie the score at six and force extra innings.

In the eighth, Stansell led off with an infield single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. VanGorder played the of clutch hitting as she singled home Stansell with the winning run.

Freshman
Morgan Kapp (Waterloo, N.Y.) earned her first collegiate win as she tossed 7 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on 12 hits with eight strikeouts.

The Cougars return to conference play as they host University of the Sciences for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 24 at noon.
