PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Caldwell University women's soccer team were victorious in their Spring 2021 season opener as they defeated Chestnut Hill College 2-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars open their season at 1-0-0 and 1-0-0 in the CACC, while the Griffins fall to 0-1-0 and 0-1-0 in conference play.
Caldwell struck first as freshman
Nicole Santos (Union, N.J.) gave the Cougars the early lead off an assist by freshman
Kasey McConnell (Shirley, N.Y.) in the 33
rd minute.
Sophomore
Sarah Costanza (Morris Plains, N.J.) added a goal for Caldwell in the 80
th minute off an assist from freshman
Kayla Neves (Henryville, Pa.) for a 2-0 lead.
Chestnut Hill broke the shutout with a goal in the final minute of the game.
Junior
Jamie-Lee Bamford (Braintree, United Kingdom) played all 90 minutes in net and finished with four saves.
The Cougars return to action as they host Dominican College in their home opener on Saturday, March 13 at noon at the Kiwanis Oval.
