JERSEY CITY, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball junior
Rebecca Morrison (Ayrshire, Scotland) and senior
Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) each recorded double-doubles as the Cougars outlasted Nyack College 57-49 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the CACC, while the Warriors fall to 0-6 and 0-2 in conference play.
Caldwell got off to a fast start to take an 8-2 lead over the first four minutes. Nyack battled back as they took a three-point lead early in the second quarter.
The Cougars closed the half with a 14-4 run as Dits totaled six points including a bucket in the final seconds to put Caldwell ahead 29-22 at the break.
Caldwell pulled ahead by as much as 12 points midway through the third quarter. Nyack answered with a rally to take a 41-39 lead midway through the final quarter.

Shanice Graves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) connected on back-to-back three-pointers. Junior
Casey O'Shaughnessy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added a lay-up to push the Cougars back in front 47-41 with 3:37 left in the game. O'Shaughnessy and graduate
Saundra Cleckley (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) each hit two free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
O'Shaugnessy led the Cougars with 15 points, two rebounds and three steals. Morrison posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards along with two steals, while Dits also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds along with six assists. Cleckley tallied four points, five boards and five assists.
The Cougars host Saint Michael's College in a non-conference contest on Friday, December 10 at 4 pm.
