PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The #7 seeded Caldwell University women's soccer team notched an early goal and pushed the #2 seed Holy Family University into overtime before coming up short 2-1 in the Quarterfinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship.
The Cougars end their season at 7-10-1 while the Tigers improve to 12-4-2 and advance to Friday's semifinals.
Caldwell took the early lead as all-conference selection junior
Sarah Costanza (Morris Plains, N.J.) gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead on a breakaway off an assist from senior keeper
Jamie-Lee Bamford (Braintree, United Kingdom) in the 18
th minute. The Tigers held a 7-6 shot advantage over the first 45 minutes of play.
Holy Family pulled even early in the second half to tie the score at 1-1 to force overtime as they outshot Caldwell 5-1 in the second half.
The Tigers broke the tie in the second minute overtime to end Caldwell's season.
Bamford recorded six saves in her final game in a Caldwell uniform.
