Paula Dits (Alicante, Spain) posted a double-double to power the Cougars past Mercy College 70-60 in a non-conference game.
The Cougars improve to 4-2 overall, while the Mavericks fall to 2-3.
Caldwell opened up a 10-point lead late in the opening quarter. The Cougars extended their lead to 15 points at 30-15 midway through the second quarter following a trifecta by junior
Halle Brown (Downingtown, Pa.). Mercy cut the score to 38-27 at halftime.
The Mavericks closed the gap to seven points late in the third quarter but the Cougars maintained their lead throughout the second half.
Dits led the way with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Brown totaled 17 points, eight boards, three assists and two steals. Junior
Casey O'Shaughnessy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 10 points and three assists.
The Cougars travel to Pace University for a non-conference contest on Saturday, November 27 at 1:30 pm.
