WILMINGTON, Del. - Junior Sarah Costanza (Morris Plains, N.J.) extended her streak of consecutive games with a point to a career-high five on Saturday with a goal for the Caldwell University women's soccer team five minutes into their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) outing at Goldey-Beacom College, the lone score for the Cougars in a 2-1 overtime setback.
With the loss, Caldwell drops to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in conference action. Goldey-Beacom improves to 3-5, 2-3 in league play.
Costanza's sixth goal of the campaign came off of two shots, one on target.
Senior Hannah Marino (Pennington, N.J.) dished out an assist for Caldwell with one shot on goal.
Senior Jamie-Lee Bamford (Braintree, United Kingdom) stopped nine shots.
For the Lightning, Melayna Immediato and Alyssa Ruggieri each scored a goal with Alex Lowry chipping in one assist. Noel Talbot recorded three saves for the host.
Caldwell took the early advantage in the fifth minute when Marino found Costanza for the second time in the Cougars' last three games.
Goldey-Beacom knotted the score at 1-1 off a shot in the 54th minute.
Freshman Alexa Peto (Toms River, N.J.) had a chance to end the contest in regulation with a shot in the 90th minute but GBC's keeper tallied a save to send the game to overtime at 1-1.
The host fired off three shots during the extra 2:34 minutes of play, getting the rebound off a save from Bamford for the game-ending score.
Caldwell took eight shots, half on target, while Goldey-Beacom tallied 21 shots with 11 on frame.
Both sides took two corner kicks.
Caldwell received one ejection while GBC was given one caution.
The Cougars return to their home field on Wednesday, Oct. 6 to host Felician University with kickoff slated for 4 p.m.
