BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Caldwell University softball team dropped a pair of games to Kutztown University and Lynn University to close out the first half of their Florida trip. Caldwell fell to Kutztown 1-0 and came up short to Lynn 6-5.

The Cougars fall to 2-4, while the Golden Bears improve to 10-6 and the Fighting Knights improve to 13-17.

Caldwell was limited to five hits in their loss to Kutztown. The Golden Bears go their lone run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Sophomore
Mariah Culver (Owego, N.Y.) tossed a complete game, allowing five hits and one run with two strikeouts.

In their second game of the day, Lynn jumped out to a 3-0 lead. The Cougars rallied back with five runs between the third and fourth innings.

Senior
Jessie Johnston (Livermore, Calif.), as part of her 4-for-4 game, singled in a pair of runs in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2. Caldwell added three runs in the fourth as senior
Daniela Solis (Wilmington, Del.) tied the game with a run-scoring single. Junior
Paige Sandoval (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) doubled in a pair of runs to give the Cougars a 5-3 lead.

The Fighting Knights tied the game with two runs in the sixth and won in walk-of fashion in the seventh.

Sara Bearden (Ewing, N.J.) took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits.

The Cougars move up the coast to central Florida as they wrap up their trip with six games this weekend in Winter Haven, Florida. Caldwell resumes their season on Friday, March 13 as they take on Bentley University at 10 am and Assumption College at 12 pm at Auburndale Softball Complex.
