LANTANA, Fla.- The Caldwell University baseball team fell to #20/#12 New York Tech 5-4 in a non-conference game.

The Cougars fall to 0-5, while the Bears improve to 7-4.

Caldwell jumped out to an early lead with four runs through the first three innings. The Cougars got three runs in the second inning as they loaded the bases. Senior

Kyle Richards (Sayreville, N.J.) and red shirt sophomore
Mike Airey (Millville, N.J.) followed with singles to put the Cougars ahead 2-0. Senior
Kenneth Matta (Union, N.J.) reached on a fielder's choice to drive in the third run of the inning.

The Cougars added a run in the third as Mitchell and Rullan had back-to-back two-out doubles to push ahead 4-0.

The nationally ranked Tigers rallied back with three runs in the fourth inning and tied the game with a run in the sixth. New York Tech pushed across the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth and held the Cougars off the scoreboard in the bottom in the inning.

Freshman
Connor Woods (Bethlehem, N.J.) got the start, going 3 2/3 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits with four strikeouts. Senior
Michael Hess (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) tossed 2 1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit and struck out four. Senior
Tom Disch (Branchburg, N.J.) took the loss, as he pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts. Freshman
Brian Mackey (New Milford, N.J.) recorded the final two outs in the ninth.
