Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Molloy

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.- Caldwell University women's lacrosse senior Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J.) recorded five points as the Cougars fell to Molloy College 22-8 in a non-conference contest.
 
The Cougars fall to 0-3, while the Lions improve to 2-2.
 
Kassaleh got the Cougars on the board with the first goal of the game at the 26:41 mark. The Lions answered with five goals to take a 5-1 lead with 20 minutes left in the half. The teams traded goals Kassaleh netted two scores, while sophomore Jenna Steelman (Mays Landing, N.J.) added a goal to cut make the 8-4 with 8:05 remaining in the half.  
 
Molloy pushed ahead 12-4 late in the half before junior Samantha Murphy (Pompton Plains, N.J.) netted a goal in the final minute to trim the score to 12-5 at halftime.
 
Steelman and Kassaleh tallied goals early in the second half to slice the score to 13-7. The Lions extended their lead to 19-7 midway through the half. Sophomore Emily Lasko (Jackson, N.J.) added a late goal for the Cougars.
 
Kassaleh led the way with four goals, one assist, four ground balls and seven draw controls. Steelman netted two goals, while Lasko finished with one goal and one assist. Murphy tallied one goal, two ground balls and three draw controls. Senior Amber Raines (Millville, N.J.) totaled two draw controls and two ground balls.
 
Freshman Ashley Barrett (Oakland, N.J.) recorded 15 saves in 60 minutes of action in net.
 
The Cougars travel to St. Thomas Aquinas College on Tuesday, March 3 for a non-conference game at 3 pm.
