Lutterman Joins 1,000-Point Club on Men’s Basketball Senior Day

CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball senior Ruud Lutterman (Dalem, Netherlands) joined the 1,000-point club as the Cougars fell to Bloomfield College 91-74 on senior day in Caldwell's season finale.
 
The Cougars end their season at 12-15 and 8-11 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, while the Bears improve to 15-13 and 11-8 in conference play.
 
The teams traded leads to start the game with the Cougars holding a 19-14 lead midway through the half. Bloomfield battled back as they evened the score at 23 with 7:18 left in the half.
 
The Bears pushed ahead 39-33 late in the half but Caldwell answered in the final seconds. Senior Vaughn Covington (Sicklerville, N.J.) connected on a trifecta at the buzzer as the Cougars trailed 41-39 at halftime.
 
Bloomfield opened up a double-digit lead early in the second half and maintained their lead to the final buzzer.
 
Lutterman etched his name in the record book with a dunk at the 3:09 mark to surpass 1,000 career points and became the 20th member of Caldwell's 1,000-point club.
 
Lutterman led the way with a double-double as he finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Chandler Brooks (Winchester, Va.) added 11 points, five rebounds and five assists. Sophomore Anthony Cooper (Ashburn, Va.) and freshman Marcellus Ross (Sicklerville, N.J.) each scored nine points, while Covington totaled seven points and four rebounds.
 
Saturday marked the final game for the Cougars six seniors in Covington, Eric Johnson-Alford (Clifton, N.J.), AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.), Lutterman, Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.), and Daan Vianen (Nieuwegein, Netherlands).
