CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University men's basketball team shot over 50% for the game as they sailed past Concordia College 100-66 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 8-6 overall and 4-2 in the CACC, while the Clippers drop to 1-13 and 0-5 in conference play.
Caldwell won the opening tip and scored on their first possession as senior
AJ Kittles (Glassboro, N.J.) drained a three-pointer to start the game. Senior
Vaughn Covington (Sicklerville, N.J.) and sophomore
Anthony Cooper (Ashburn, Va.) each netted a pair of trifectas each with senior
Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) adding one from downtown as the Cougars pulled ahead 26-9 near the midway point of the half.
The Cougars controlled the pace of the play for the game as they held a 50-28 lead at halftime. Caldwell stretched their lead to as much as 40 points midway through the second half and maintained a double-digit lead, shooting 54.4% for the game.
Cooper led the way with 21 points and three assists. Senior
Ruud Lutterman (Dalem, Netherlands) posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Covington totaled 13 points and five boards. Junior
Manley Dorme (Nanuet, N.Y.) recorded 15 points and six boards, while Kittles added eight points and seven rebounds. Freshman
Gabe Johnson (Bloomfield, N.J.) dished out nine assists.
The Cougars travel to Georgian Court University for a CACC contest on Saturday, January 11 at 2 pm.
