Overview
The Caldwell University Sprint Football team will begin their 2019 season on home turf, when they go head to head with Mansfield University this Saturday, September 14 at 1:00 pm. All homes games are played at James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell.

Scouting the Cougars
Key Returners
- Junior Carl Watson (Newark, N.J.) (WR) (First team CSFL selection)
- Watson led the league in receptions, receiving yards and all-purpose yards last season.
- Sophomore Haleem Woods (Plainfield, N.J.) (DB) was a CSFL Second Team Defense selection as he led the Caldwell defense with 6.9 tackles per game as he totaled 48 last season.
- Sophomore Tajae' Irby (South Plainfield, N.J.) (QB) (CSFL honorable mention)
- He tossed for 1,269 yards in the air along with eight touchdowns, ranked fourth in the league in passing yards last season.
- Junior Royce Francisco (Passaic, N.J.) (LB) (CSFL honorable mention)
- He earned his second straight all-league recognition, as he was second on the team with 6.3 tackles per contest and tied for the team lead in sacks with four.
- Junior Saleem Bush (Newark, N.J.) (CSFL honorable mention)
Scouting the Mounties
The Mounties ended their 2018 season with an overall record of 4-3, and 1-3 in division play. Mansfield will be returning six all-CSFL performers from last season.

Bahamas Relief Drive
On September 1, 2019, the Bahamian islands experienced Hurricane Dorian, a category 5 storm, supporting gusty winds of 220 mph. The country estimates damages to be over US$7 Billion, with a constantly rising death toll +40 counts. Millions of members in the Bahamian Community suffered great loss. Caldwell University has a Bahamian presence on the campus, who are currently coping with the trauma associated with news from back home. At Saturday's game, Caldwell will be accepting non-perishable food, personal hygiene products, bottled water, medicine and medical supplies and clothes that will be donated to Bahamas Relief efforts.

Next Up
Following this Saturday's home opener, the Cougars will travel to Sparkill, NY to take on Saint Thomas Aquinas College, Friday, September 21st. Kickoff is at 6:00 pm.
