PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Caldwell University baseball team posted a 4-1 win over regionally ranked Pace University to close out their 2019 season.

The Cougars close out their season at 15-27, their highest win total since they won 16 games in 2011. The Setters drop to 27-14 on the season.

Caldwell got on the board in the opening inning as senior
Mason Marino (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Marino moved to second on a sacrifice and scored on a single by senior
Anthony Parente (Jackson, N.J.).

The Cougars added a run in the fourth as junior
Luis Rullan (Bloomfield, N.J.) led off with a single and stole second. Rullan came around to score later in the inning on a wild pitch.

Caldwell loaded the bases in the sixth junior
Dylan Walicky (Belleville, N.J.) was hit by a pitch with two outs. Junior
Michael Calabrese (Toms River, N.J.) and freshman
Frank Lehmann (Colonia, N.J.) followed with singles. Marino drew a walk to force in a run.

The Cougars tacked on a run in the eighth ad Calabrese singled with one out and moved to second on a passed ball. Freshman
Jalen March (Baltimore, Md.) doubled in Calabrese.

Pace added a run in the eighth on a solo homerun.

Jerry Gamone (Union, N.J.) tossed a complete game four-hitter, allowing one run and struck out four to improve to 5-6.
