WEST CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's lacrosse senior
Jessica Collum (Wayne, N.J.) netted three goals as the Cougars fell to Wilmington University 22-9 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars fall to 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the CACC, while the Wildcats improve to 8-6 and 5-1 in conference play.
Wilmington pulled ahead 4-0 over the first four minutes of play. Collum netted the first goal at the 25:51 mark. The Wildcats added to their lead as they pushed ahead 9-1.
Caldwell netted three straight goals as junior
Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J.) scored twice, while senior
Rachel Lucia (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) scored one to cut the score to 9-4.
Freshman
Jenna Steelman (Mays Landing, N.J.) and freshman
Emily Lasko (Jackson, N.J.) scored late in the first half for Caldwell. Kassaleh netted a tally in the final seconds to cut the score to 16-7 at halftime.
Collum tallied a pair of goals in the final 1:30 of the game to account for the final scores for the Cougars.
Freshman
Mia Monacelli (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) recorded 15 saves in the loss.
Kassaleh posted three goals, one assist, four ground balls, three caused turnovers and four draw controls. Collum added three goals, two ground balls, one draw control and one caused turnover. Sophomore
Samantha Murphy (Pompton Plains, N.J.) added two assists, while Lasko, Lucia and Steelman each scored on goals for the Cougars.
The Cougars travel to Post University on Wednesday, April 17 for a CACC contest at 3 p.m.
