WEST CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's lacrosse junior
Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J.) netted seven points as the Cougars fell to Franklin Pierce University 23-10 in a non-conference game.
The Cougars fall to 1-6 overall, while the Ravens improve to 5-2.
Kassaleh netted the first two goals for the Cougars as they trailed 10-2 midway through the opening half.
The Cougars netted three straight goals to close the gap to 10-5. Freshman
Jenna Steelman (Mays Landing, N.J.) and Kassaleh each netted a goal, while freshman
Emily Lasko (Jackson, N.J.) added a goal and an assist. Sophomore
Samantha Murphy (Pompton Plains, N.J.) scored two late goals as the Cougars trailed 15-7 at halftime.
Kassaleh tallied two goals and an assist in the second half. Senior
Rachel Lucia (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) tallied a late goal for the Cougars.
Kassaleh led the way with five goals, two assists and 10 draw controls. Murphy totaled two goals, one assist and two draw controls. Lasko and Lucia each finished with one goal and one assist. Lucia posted one draw control, three caused turnovers and five ground balls.
Freshman
Mia Monacelli (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) recorded 13 saves in 47 minutes. Senior
Nancy Benedetto (Jupiter, Fla.) posted one save in 13 minutes.
Caldwell hosts St. Thomas Aquinas in a non-conference game on Tuesday, March 26 at 4 pm at Essex Valley Field in West Caldwell.
