LAKEWOOD, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's lacrosse team saw its 2018 season come to a close with a 19-4 loss to top seed Georgian Court University in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Semifinals.
The Cougars end their season at 6-9, while the Lions improve to 12-6 and advance to Sunday's championship final.
Georgian Court took the lead early in the game as they posted 10 goals over the first 10 minute of the game. Sophomore
Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J.) netted the lone Caldwell goal in the first half as she accounted for all four goals in the game.
Kassaleh added three goals in the second half for the Cougars. Freshman
Samantha Murphy (Pompton Plains, N.J.) totaled one assist, while senior
Pamela Schenck (East Moriches, N.Y.) recorded a pair of assists in her final collegiate game.
Junior goalie
Nancy Benedetto (Jupiter, Fla.) finished with 10 saves in the game. Kassaleh posted five draw controls, while Schenck added two draw controls. Senior
Miranda Harrington (Neptune, N.J.) totaled two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Kassaleh and Schenck earned CACC All-Tournament honors.
The loss brought to an end the careers of Schenck, Harrington and
Rebecca Ryan (Berkeley Heights, N.J.). Schenck leaves the program as one of the top offensive players in the program's history with 149 points, 103 goals and 46 assists. Harrington is one of the original members of the Cougars inaugural season in 2014 and was a standout defensive player during her playing career. Ryan joined the Cougars this season after playing for four seasons on the Caldwell tennis team and provided leadership to a young team.
