CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University men's basketball sophomore
Zay Jennings (Allentown, Pa.) posted a team-high 20 points as the Cougars outlasted Bloomfield College 77-75 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars win their fifth in a row to improve to 16-12 overall and finish the regular season at 13-6 in the CACC. The Bears fall to 22-6 and finish conference play at 17-2.
Caldwell got off to a fast start as senior
Derek Dorn (New Rochelle, N.Y.) drained a three-pointer. Jennings connected on three triples to help the Cougars pull ahead 22-10 with 12:15 left in the first half.
Bloomfield closed the gap to one point at 33-32 with just over three minutes to play in the first half. Caldwell answered to push ahead by seven points at 39-32. The Bears rallied late but Caldwell led 40-37 at halftime.
Jennings connected on a pair of three-pointers early in the second half as the Cougars extended their lead to 50-40 with 14:58 remaining in the game. Bloomfield battled back as they took a 62-61 lead with 7:33 left in the game.
The teams traded leads down the stretch but sophomore
Vaughn Covington (Sicklerville, N.J.) drained a triple at the 2:13 mark to put the Cougars back in front 74-73 to stay. Dorn hit a pair of free throws at the 1:40 mark and the Cougars outlasted the Bears down the stretch to take the win.

Eric Johnson-Alford (Clifton, N.J.) added 14 points and two blocks. Covington chipped in 10 points and three boards, while junior
Ahmad Harrison (Newark, N.J.) posted six rebounds and five assists.
Prior to the game, the Cougars honored its graduating seniors as part of senior day.
