Grundhauser Goal Vaults Women's Soccer Into CACC Finals

Cougars Advance To Sunday's Final vs No. 3 Holy Family at 10 a.m.

WATERBURY, Conn.- Junior Meghan Grundhauser (Easton, Pa.) took a feed from sophomore Jordan Madrid (Cherry Hill, N.J.) to net the go-ahead goal in the 57th minute as the fourth-seeded Caldwell women's soccer team upended top seed Georgian Court, 2-1, in the CACC Tournament Semifinals at Municipal Stadium today in Waterbury, Conn. The Cougars (11-6-1) advance to Sunday's 10 a.m. final against No. 3 Holy Family.

Grundhauser's goal came just a few minutes after freshman GK Jamie-Lee Bamford (Braintree, UK) made a huge save with 33 minutes remaining on a great GCU opportunity, diving to keep the score tied. The Cougars withstood a few late scoring chances by the Lions (13-4-1) to secure the win.

After Georgian Court opened the scoring at the 22 minute mark in the first half, Caldwell tied it 11 minutes later as junior Gina Alfano (Union, N.J.) put a shot in off a Georgian Court defender for her first tally of the season as the teams went into the intermission at 1-1.

Bamford finished with 8 saves for Caldwell. The Lions outshot the Cougars by a count of 17-5, and 9 shots on goal to 3.
