PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Caldwell University men's soccer team came up short 3-2 in overtime to Jefferson in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
 
The Cougars fall to 4-7-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the CACC, while the Rams improve to 6-4-1 and 5-2-1 in conference play.
 
The teams battled through a mostly scoreless first half before each team netted a goal just before halftime. The Rams took the early lead with a goal in the 42^nd minute of play. Caldwell tied the game just over a minute later on a penalty kick by sophomore Mattia Cella (Zoagli, Italy).
 
The Cougars pushed ahead early in the second half as junior Erlend Aase (Bergen, Norway) put Caldwell up 2-1 off an assist from sophomore Sander Golmen (Lier, Belgium).
 
Jefferson netted the equalizer in the 78^th minute and the game remained tied through the end of regulation. In the first overtime, the Rams netted the game-winner in the sixth minute.
 
Sophomore Nils Svere (Lier, Norway) finished with three saves in the game.
 
The Cougars host Nyack College on Tuesday, October 9 for a CACC contest at 4 pm at Caldwell Field.
