CALDWELL, N.J.- Caldwell University women's basketball senior
Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, NY) posted a double-double and drained her 200th career three-pointer as the Cougars defeated Goldey-Beacom College 72-47 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.
The Cougars improve to 16-3 on the season and 9-1 in the CACC, while the Lightning fall to 6-13 and 4-6 in conference play.
Caldwell took control of the game late in the opening quarter as Drogsler netted a three-pointer, while sophomore
Tina Lebron (Manalapan. N.J.) drained a pair from downtown. Drogsler connected on a pair of free throws at the 1:15 mark to give the Cougars a 20-9 lead.
Goldey-Beacom closed the gap to 22-16 early in the second quarter. The Cougars pulled away with a 10-0 run powered by three-pointers from Drogsler and Lebron to push ahead 32-16. Caldwell went into halftime with a 35-24 advantage.
The Cougars extended their lead to 16 points midway through the third quarter as they held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Drogsler posted her third double-double of the season as she tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds along with five assists and three steals. She drained four three-pointers in the win to join the 200-three-point club and finished the day with 200 trifectas in her career.
Senior
Karlie O'Driscoll (Sharon, Mass.) totaled 18 points and six rebounds, while Lebron finished with 15 points and three boards. Junior
Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.) totaled six assists and three steals, while senior
Maura Kelty (Barrington, R.I.) contributed seven points and nine rebounds.
The Cougars travel to Felician University for a CACC match-up on Wednesday, January 24 at 5:30 pm.
