EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- The Caldwell University men's soccer team rallied from a halftime deficit to earn a 1-1 draw against East Stroudsburg University. The Cougars move their record to 1-1-1 on the season, while the Warriors stand at 1-0-1.
The Warriors controlled the opening half as they held the edge in shots 12-3. The score remained tied for the first 40 minutes. East Stroudsburg took the lead in the 41
st minute of play and held a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Caldwell rallied in the second half as they netted the equalizer in the 63
rd minute. Sophomore
Luca Cacciottolo (Boonton, N.J.) pulled the Cougars even off an assist from freshman
Alessandro Canino (Parma, Italy). Both teams had scoring chances late in the second half but the score remained tied and headed to overtime.
East Stroudsburg outshot the Cougars 7-1 through two overtime periods but the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Freshman
Nils Svere (Lier, Norway) turned in a solid effort in net as he recorded six saves.
Caldwell travels to Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, September 9 for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at 3 pm.
