CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University women's soccer team edged Molloy College 1-0 in the Cougars home opener. Caldwell evens their season at 2-2-0, while the Lions fall to 1-3-0 on the season.
Caldwell controlled play in the opening half as they held a 10-1 advantage in shots but the game remained scoreless after 45 minutes of play.
The Cougars broke through in the second half as junior
Haley Kopf (Jackson, N.J.) chipped the ball past the keeper off a corner kick from junior
Amanda Wroblewski (North Babylon, N.Y.). Molloy held the second half edge in shots 8-5 but Caldwell's defense stood tall to preserve the shutout. The Lions netted four shots over the final 20 minutes but failed to net the equalizer.
Sophomore
Daniela Lucca (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) totaled eight saves in the win and posted her second consecutive shutout.
The Cougars host Jefferson in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up on Friday, September 15 at 4 pm at the Kiwanis Oval.
