ANNAPOLIS, Md.- The Caldwell University sprint football ended their inaugural season with a 72-0 loss to the United States Naval Academy in a Collegiate Sprint Football League South Division contest on Friday night.

The Cougars end their first season the gridiron with a 1-6 overall record and 0-4 in the CSFL South Division. The Midshipmen finish their season at 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the CSFL South Division.

Freshman
Zavion Stevens (Bloomfield, N.J.) led the ground attack with 15 carries for 87 yards, while freshman
Quazier Dailey (Prospect Park, N.J.) finished with 10 rushing yards on six carries.

Freshman
Jared Dockett (Bloomfield, N.J.) totaled 128 all-purpose yards as he posted seven kick returns for 128 yards. Dockett added one reception for 13 yards. Freshman
Nysir Smith (Newark, N.J.) finished with one catch for 18 yards.

The defense was led by freshman
Royce Francisco (Passaic, N.J.), who posted nine tackles with 1.5 for losses. He added a half sack in the game. Freshmen
Jerrick Anthony (Bayonne, N.J.) and
Biagio Bisicchia (Laurel Springs, Md.) along with junior
Otto Fricker (Charlotts, N.C.) each tallied seven tackles each.

Despite the loss, the Cougars first season was a success. Caldwell earned the program's first win on September 30 with a 28-19 win over Post University. The Cougars also earned two CSFL player of the week honors as Dailey was named the CSFL Offensive Player of the Week on October 3. Dockett earned CSFL Special Teams Player of the Week honors on October 17.
