ALBANY, N.Y.- The Caldwell University men's basketball team came up short 70-66 to Le Moyne College to close out the NE-10/CACC Challenge hosted by The College of Saint Rose.
The Cougars fall to 0-2 on the season, while the Dolphins improve to 2-0.
The teams traded leads throughout the first half as the score was tied seven times. Sophomore
Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) drained a late triple to put the Cougars ahead 31-28 with under two minutes to play. The Dolphins rallied late as they took a 33-31 lead at halftime.
Le Moyne pushed ahead 41-36 at the 15:54 mark in the second half. Caldwell rallied back to take a four-point lead late in the game. Sophomore
AJ Kittles (Sicklerville, N.J.) drained a three-pointer with 4:49 left in the game to put the Cougars in front 57-53.
The Dolphins answered as they pulled ahead 64-59 with just over a minute to play. Le Moyne connected on free throws down the stretch to hold off the Cougars in the final minute.
Kittles drained 5-of-7 from downtown as he finished with 17 points and five rebounds. Senior
Derek Dorn (New Rochelle, N.Y.) tallied 14 points, five boards, five assists and two steals. Ogoemesim chipped in 13 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Cougars.
The Cougars travel to NYIT on Tuesday, November 14 for a non-conference game at 7 pm.
