Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, N.Y.) scored 20 points to lead the Cougars to a 67-54 win over Saint Anselm College at the Georgian Court University Lions Invitational.
The Cougars open their season at 1-0, while the Hawks fall to 0-1.
Drogsler led the way with 20 points, three assists and four steals. Senior
Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.) chipped in 13 points and four rebounds, while sophomore
Tina Lebron (Manalapan, N.J.) dropped in five points.
Senior
Karlie O'Driscoll (Sharon, Mass.) totaled 11 points and two rebounds, while junior
Kristen Siscamanis (Winthrop, Mass.) posted seven points and six boards. Junior
Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.) tallied five points, five rebounds and two steals for the Cougars.
For first-year Head Coach
Torey Northup-Jones, the game marks her first official win as a collegiate head coach. Caldwell has won their season opening contest for a third year in a row.
The Cougars wrap up play at the Georgian Court Lions Invitational on Sunday, November 11 against Merrimack College at 1 pm.
