CALDWELL, N.J.- The Caldwell University men's basketball team defeated Ningbo University 108-71 in an exhibition contest to open their 2017-18 season. The Cougars welcomed the Ningbo team that is located in the Zhejiang Province of China.
The teams exchanged gifts prior to the start of the game in a long tradition of international contests.
The Cougars took the early lead and led throughout the contest. Sophomore
Ned Ogoemesim (Westampton, N.J.) led Caldwell with 16 points and four rebounds in the win. Sophomore
Zay Jennings (Allentown, Pa.) shot 3-for-6 from downtown as he finished wirh 15 points and two steals.
Senior
Derek Dorn (New Rochelle, N.Y.) totaled 14 points and six steals, while sophomore
Ruud Lutterman (Gorinchem, Netherlands) chipped in 12 points and five rebounds. Sophomore
AJ Kittles (Sicklerville, N.J.) added 11 points and eight boards.
The Cougars open their 2017-18 season at Northeast-10-CACC Challenge hosted by the College of Saint Rose. Caldwell takes on the host Golden Knights on Saturday, November 11 at 2 pm and wrap up the tournament on Sunday, November 12 at 12 pm against Le Moyne College.
