Carly Testa (Sicklerville, NJ) hit three homeruns on the afternoon as the #19 Caldwell University softball team swept a doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
The Cougars win their 12th in a row to improve to 26-10 overall and 19-3 in the CACC, while the Lightning fall to 8-30 and 3-19 in conference play.
In the opener, Testa blasted a pair of homeruns and drove in three runs to power the Cougars to a 12-3 game one victory in six innings. Junior
Amy Hickman (Jackson, NJ) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while senior
Brielle Reighn (Runnemeade, NJ) was 2-for-4 with double, two runs scored and one RBI. Sophomore
Marisa Monasseri (Monroe, NJ) finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Senior pitcher
Amber Padilla (Chino, CA) won her 11th straight decision as she tossed her ninth complete game of the season. Padilla (14-2) allowed three unearned runs on six hits, while striking out nine in the game one win.
In the nightcap, Testa hit her third collegiate homerun with a two-run shot in the fifth inning. Junior
Gracie Sullivan (Elmhurst, IL) went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while freshman
Katie Nichols (Acworth, GA) went 3-for-3. Junior
Lauren Frye (Jupiter, FL) was 1-for-2 with two RBI, while Monasseri scored a run, going 2-for-3 in the nightcap. Senior
Megan Fryday (San Marcos, CA) had an RBI triple in the fifth inning.
Junior pitcher
Sydney Ponto (West Deptford, NJ) struck out five in 5 1/3 shutout innings. Ponto (11-7) allowed four hits in the 8-0 game two victory. Freshman
