BOCA RATON, Fla.- Junior
Chris Gehrsitz (Jackson, NJ) tossed 6/23 solid innings to help lead the Caldwell University baseball team to a 5-4 win against the Molloy College Lions to cap their Florida road trip. The Cougars improve to 3-4, while the Lions fall to 10-5.
Molloy got on the board in the opening inning but Caldwell evened the score with a run in the fourth. Junior
Michael Bernstein (Staten Island, NY) singled and eventually came around to score on a sacrifice fly by sophomore

Ryan Rivera (Saddle Brook, NJ) led off the sixth inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Senior
Dominick Orlando (Manalapan, NJ) drilled a single up the middle to put Caldwell in the lead at 2-1. The Cougars added to their lead in the seventh as sophomore
Justin Jeannette (East Hanover, NJ) blasted his first homerun of the season to left field to extend the lead to 3-1.
Molloy answered in their half of the seventh with a run, while Caldwell tacked on another run in the eighth. Lore drew a lead-off walk and scored on a double by sophomore
Noah Clark (Toms River, NJ).
The Lions again matched the Cougars with a run in their half of the eighth but Caldwell tacked on a key insurance run in the ninth. Senior
Mike LaTorraca (West Caldwell, NJ) drew a walk and stole second. Orlando had the clutch hit with a two-out single to push the score to 5-3.
Molloy had a solo homerun with one out and loaded the bases with two outs. Senior
Jon Gribbin (Westfield, NJ) closed the door to pick up his first save of the season. Gehrsitz (1-0) tossed 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits to earn his first win of the season Gribbin went the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and struck out two.
Caldwell opens Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Tuesday, March 22 with a doubleheader against Bloomfield College at 3 pm at the Kiwanis Oval.
