Women’s Basketball Uses Balanced Attack to Win Ninth in a Row

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.- Sophomore Karlie O'Driscoll (Sharon, MA) totaled 18 points as the Caldwell University women's basketball team stretched their win streak to nine as the Cougars defeated the Concordia College Clippers 90-62 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division clash.
 
The Cougars improve their mark to 19-7 overall and 14-3 in the CACC, while the Clippers drop to 4-21 and 2-16 in conference play.
 
In the first released NCAA Division II East Region poll, the Cougars settled into the #10 slot. In the CACC North Division, Caldwell has clinched a home first round game in the CACC Championship that begins on February 27.
 
Caldwell raced out to a 13-4 lead at the 4:10 mark of the opening quarter. The Cougars built a 12 point lead early in the second quarter at 24-12 at the 8:21 mark. Concordia trimmed the score to six points but Caldwell finished the half strong to take a 38-26 lead at the break.
 
The Cougars were paced by 51.4% shooting in the opening half, while limiting the Clippers to 37.9% shooting.
 
Caldwell continued their solid play into the second half as they led by as much as 29 points late in the fourth quarter. The Cougars held the shooting edge for the game at 56.1% to Concordia's 38.8% shooting.
 
For the Cougars, O'Driscoll shot 9-for-12 from the field, finishing with 18 points and seven rebounds. Senior Nicole Angelo (Mt. Laurel, NJ) posted 16 points and three assists, while sophomore Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, NY) tallied 14 points, six boards and three steals. Junior Antoinette Pilla (Scarsdale, NY) chipped in 12 points, two rebounds and six assists, while sophomore Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, MA) totaled 10 points, five boards, five assists and two steals.
 
The Cougars return to the Newman Center for "Super Saturday" on February 20. Caldwell takes on Bloomfield College in a key North Division game that tips off at 1 pm. Prior to the contest, the Cougars will recognize its lone graduating senior.
