Men’s Basketball Falls to Concordia

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.- Senior Billy McDonald (North Haven, CT) totaled 13 points as the Caldwell University men's basketball team fell 87-58 to the Concordia College Clippers in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.
 
The Cougars fell to 9-15 overall and 7-10 in the CACC, while the Clippers improve to 13-14 and 10-8 in conference play.
 
The Clippers jumped out to a 12-6 lead at the 15:41 mark of the opening half. McDonald netted a triple to start a 9-2 run that put Caldwell in the lead at 15-14 with 13:15 to play in the opening half.
 
Concordia pushed ahead by 10 points at the midway point of the first half at 27-17. The Cougars chipped away as they closed to within four points late in the half. Freshman Ahmad Harrison (Newark, NJ) and sophomore Tyler Drews (Old Bridge, NJ) each connected on triples, while McDonald's dunk at the 5:19 mark cut the score to 32-28. The Clippers closed the half with a late run to lead 43-34 at halftime.
 
The Clippers pushed their lead to double digits early in the second half. Concordia held the lead to the final buzzer and the Cougars three-game win streak was snapped.
 
For the Cougars, McDonald posted 13 points, four rebounds and two blocks, while shooting 6-for-10 from the field. Senior Dawan Lighty (Paterson, NJ) chipped 12 points and four rebounds, while Harrison finished with seven points and three boards.
 
The Cougars return to the Newman Center for "Super Saturday" on February 20. Caldwell takes on Bloomfield College in a key North Division game that tips off at 3 pm. Prior to the contest, the Cougars will recognize its five graduating seniors.
