WATERBURY, Conn.- The Caldwell University women's basketball team opened a double digit first quarter lead en-route to a 72-55 win against Post University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
The Cougars win their fifth in a row to improve to 8-1 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0. The Eagles drop to 1-8 and 1-3 in conference play.
Caldwell shot 58.8% in the opening quarter as they took control with a 24-8 lead with under two minutes to play. Sophomore
Caroline Dunn (Denville, N.J.) scored eight points in the first quarter, while junior
Karlie O'Driscoll (Sharon, Mass.) added a three-point play and a bucket. Junior
Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, N.Y.) drained a triple to help the Cougars take the lead.
The Cougars opened the second quarter on a 12-2 run to build a 36-14 late in the quarter. Dunn added six points as Caldwell held a 36-21 lead at halftime.
The Eagles cut the score down to nine points midway in the third quarter but quickly pushed it back to double digits. Caldwell held a comfortable margin to the final buzzer.
Dunn netted a career-high 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field. Drogsler shot 3-for-6 from downtown, totaling 14 points, two rebounds and three assists. Senior
Antoinette Pilla (Scarsdale, N.Y.) chipped in 12 points and four boards, while O'Driscoll posted nine points and six rebounds. Junior
Sharell Sanders (Dorchester, Mass.) contributed eight rebounds and eight assists.
The Cougars travel to Concordia College on Saturday, December 10 for a 2 pm CACC contest.
